Minutes from AGSC meeting April 30, 2008

We missed the paperwork submission deadline this semester to become a registered RSO, so we will submit the finalized paperwork at the start of the Fall 2008 semester.
The constitution and by-laws are finished. We will ratify them at our first meeting in the start of fall semester.
Kathy has agreed to allow AGSC to use a mailbox and file in the Anthropology department office
Acting officers are temporary. We will have elections at the start of fall semester. Temporary officers can be nominated for offices in the fall. President, Shanna Cox Vice-President, Patrick Mullen Secretary, Elizabeth Lynch Treasurer, Dora Ridneour Faculty Representative, Joe Gingrich
Need a list of graduate students who will be around for at least part of the summer and would be willing to help Nicole with the new graduate student handbook Dora Ridneour and Christy Montgomery will be around for part of the summer; Shanna Cox , Meg Morris, and Christopher Young will be around for most of the summer (other graduate students will available via email) Ask Nicole to make it mandatory for all Anthropology graduate students to submit new information and update their web pages
To complete the RSO application, Shanna needs: Proposed activities for the year Development update of anthropology graduate student webpage (Elizabeth Lynch, Christy Montgomery, Joe Gingrich) Continuation of the Anthropology radio program, and adding graduate student research (Dora Ridneour) Assist with the WAS spring meeting (Shanna Cox) Graduate student orientation (Shanna Cox) Plains conference (open house, volunteers, job fair) (Dora Ridneour) Generating graduate student publications (ask faculty about making it a requirement that term papers be submitted to WCA?) (Joe Gingrich) Begin a new graduate student mentor program (Joe Gingrich) Proposed meeting day/time First Wednesday of every month (except summer months) at 12 pm in the Anthropology conference room?
